Mom, we need to talk. I know that you have to work so that you can spoil me, but I am getting really bored at home alone! I sleep, stare out the window, sleep, chew on my toys, and then sleep some more. You know what I’d really like to do though? Play! I want to run around, play with new friends, maybe even meet a cute dog to go swimming with. So, I think we need to talk about finding me a dog walker.
I’ve done some research for you, and here are some of the things I’m looking for in a dog walker:
Must Love Dogs
Number one on my list: they have to love me! Even when I get muddy and shake beside them. I only do it because I love them, so they have to love me right back!
Must be Nice to Me
I know that sometimes I can be a bit naughty. Like that time your friends were over and I stole your underwear and brought it to them. But even when I am naughty, I really don’t like to be yelled at - it’s a real buzz kill. So I need someone who will show me what the right thing to do is, without being mad and barking at me.
Must Know how to make me feel better, and will take me to the vet if I need more care
We both know that sometimes I can be a little clumsy. I was a little worried about something happening when I’m adventuring, but apparently some humans are good at wrapping up injuries. I need someone who can fix me up if I catch my nail in the rocks or something. If I need to go to the vet, it’s important that the pet insurance people will take care of things if we need them to.
Must Understand that I’m Shy
I find it hard to meet new people, and you know that I don’t like it when a high energy dog gets all up in my business. Ideally, I’d really like just one or two people to walk me, so I don't have to learn to trust new people all the time. I want to be with other dogs who I can play with sometimes, but who won’t bug me too much when I don’t want to play anymore - so I need someone that knows which dogs I like to play with, and can match me with them for our play sessions.
Must Have a Flexible Schedule
You know that I love it when you stay home with me!! And those days I would rather stay home and cuddle, and maybe eat your folded up Kleenex, rather than go on a walk. My walker should understand that sometimes I need to cancel… and sometimes I might even need an extra walk when you’re busy at work!
Ok mom, I think that’s everything! I’ve gotten recommendations from REX in the City, my friends, my groomer, and the vet. Let’s set up some meet and greets to see who will have the pleasure of walking me!
